1. The farrier must have the best interests of the horse as the primary concern in his work.
2. The farrier must behave seriously and well-groomed in contact with horse owners during the exercise of the business.
3. The farrier must treat the horse and the horse owner with empathy, care and respect.
4. The farrier must under no circumstances subject the horse to unnecessary suffering during the exercise of the activity.
5. The farrier must inform the owner of the horse’s possible problems and also give advice for continued handling.
6. The farrier must act in accordance with proven experience, constantly seek to expand his own knowledge and, to the best of his ability, contribute both to scientific development and the general public’s knowledge of it.
7. The farrier must only carry out the measures for which he is competent and when it is justified to hire other expertise.
8. The farrier must be well informed about current infection control and animal welfare legislation.
9. The farrier must observe silence about all information concerning individual horses and horse owners, unless it endangers the horse’s well-being.
10. The farrier must behave in an exemplary manner for the association and must in all respects be in solidarity with his professional fellow farriers and treat other professional categories with respect.
